All - thank you again for your continued patience during this project. The end is near! The work to be completed on December 11, 2020, and planned for the week of December 14, 2020 (some work weather dependent) is as follows:
- The crosswalk at Puritan and Library Lane/Captain's Table that was moved westerly approximately 75 feet to 579 Main Street connecting to 578 Main Street (entrance to the Longfellow/Sara Campbell building) will be eliminated. It was determined today that it is too challenging to meet the slope needed for an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant entrance to 578 Main Street. It had ADA compliance challenges at its original location as well. It will not be replaced. It is anticipated that work in that area will be completed end of the day on Friday, December 11, 2020. Also on December 11, 2020, miscellaneous hot mix asphalt (HMA) work will be done to complete any remaining driveway aprons.
- By end of the day on December 15, 2020, hopefully, we will have all miscellaneous HMA work and clean-up completed.
Again, thank you so much for your patience! If you have any questions, please call me at 508-945-5105 or email Jill R. Goldsmith or call Public Works Director Thomas Temple at 508-945-5155 or email Robert Faley. Thank you!

All - thank you again for your continued patience during this project. The end is near! The work to be completed today and planned for the week of December 7, 2020 (some work weather dependent) is as follows:
- Please note that due to ADA and AAB requirements, the crosswalk at Puritan and Library Lane/Captain's Table has been moved westerly approximately 75 feet to 578 Main Street connecting to 579 Main Street (entrance to the Longfellow/Sara Campbell building). This will also contribute to a safer drop-off area.
- Friday, December 4, 2020 - Complete sidewalk surface paving!
- Monday, December 7, 2020 to December 08, 2020 - Milling transitions and seal areas on Main Street and side streets
- Wednesday, December 9, 2020 - Contractor to review any remaining items with DPW Director; miscellaneous paving and clean-up
- Thursday, December 10, 2020 - Miscellaneous paving and clean-up as required
We are on track for the project completion by December 15, 2020. If you have any issues or questions, please make sure to contact us by December 9, 2020. Project Superintendent Adam is on-site and will address any concerns or questions before then.

All - the start of the sidewalk excavation work, on the northside of Main Street (First Congregational Church side), from the Rotary working back to Library Lane, will begin on Monday, November 2, 2020, at 7 am. This work was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, but due to the rain, the Contractor will hold off until Monday.
I understand that on October 29th, Project Superintendent Adam visited the 4 businesses with flower beds outside their establishment in and/or adjacent to the sidewalk area requesting that they move them before Monday.
Project Superintendent Adam will be onsite to notify business owners of daily progress. The Contractor still anticipates 300 feet per day. If you have any questions, please contact the Town's Highway Division at 508-945-5155 or email Public Works Director Robert Faley or my office. Thank you!
Jill R. Goldsmith, Chatham Town Manager, ICMA-CM
All - On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, the project will still start on the northside, but the starting point will be in the reverse direction - at the Rotary working back to Library Lane. The equipment (Gradall excavator) has to work in a west to east direction with trucking along Main Street so it will start on the opposite end of Main Street and work towards Library Lane on the same side as originally planned. For October 28, 2020, that work will start sometime around 11:30 am.
Project Superintendent Adam will be onsite to notify business owners of daily progress. The Contractor still anticipates 300 feet per day of work to be completed. Thank you!
