Chatham Housing Office
The Housing Department works to promote and maintain a range of housing opportunities in Chatham by managing and implementing the Town's efforts to meet the housing needs of our low, moderate, and middle income residents and workforce, and developing initiatives to preserve and expand the Town's supply of Affordable and Attainable rental and ownership housing.
We recognize that while it's important to develop Affordable housing units, units that are affordable to people who earn up to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and which count toward the Town's Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI), there is also a real need for Attainable housing units that are affordable to people who earn between 80% and 200% of the AMI.
We work with the Affordable Housing Trust, the Chatham Community Housing Partnership, and local non-profits to identify housing opportunities, acquire land, and build and preserve Affordable and Attainable housing. We actively pursue the 70% Local Option through the EOHLC so that we are addressing the housing needs of our residents and workforce first and foremost, within the requirements of Fair Housing laws.
