Shop Small This Saturday

Support our local merchants by shopping small on Saturday, November 27th! Chances are you can find something for everyone on your holiday gift list right here in Town.

Our small businesses are the lifeblood of our community. They provide meaningful jobs for our friends and neighbors, support our local economy by turning their profits back into other local businesses and endeavors, contribute to the tax base which provides needed services, and play a large role in forming our community's identity. Please shop (and dine!) locally this weekend.

Giving Tuesday logo

Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement to drive giving and collective action in communities. Begun in 2012 with the simple idea of dedicating a day to encourage people to do good, the movement has grown exponentially over the last nine years.

Giving Tuesday 2021 is held on November 30th. On this day individuals are encouraged to show generosity in all forms by giving their time, their voice, or their financial support to communities and causes.

If you are inclined to participate in Giving Tuesday this year, please consider supporting a local human service or cultural organization here in Chatham. It has been a difficult two years for both sectors with human service organizations seeing increased demand and cultural organizations hampered by the closing of performance/exhibit venues, and limitations to fundraising opportunities for both.

Chatham is a strong community, united in the support of all its members. Please take part in some way and let's show our generosity locally.

The Mainsheet

The name of our e-newsletter was selected from submissions by our community.
In nautical terms a mainsheet is the line connected to the boom which allows a sailor to control the speed of a boat. We think that is fitting for an e-newsletter that can be used to quickly send out important information to our community or at a more leisurely rate for less pressing matters. It reflects Chatham’s maritime history, is reminiscent of the front page of a newspaper, and it is a fun play on Main Street, where you go to be part of all that is happening in Town!
