Sears Park Improvements

Sears Park is a clean slate for improvements!

Funded through the Community Preservation Act as approved at 2021 Annual Town Meeting, this centerpiece in the heart of downtown, which is maintained by the Chatham Garden Club, will be replanted with mostly native species as well as a variety of shrubs, hydrangeas, and bulbs as recommended by the Club. Improvements will also be made to the irrigation system.

Stage Harbor Dredging Underway

The County dredge "Sandshifter" has begun work on the Stage Harbor entrance channel. The dredge will be onsite through the end of March.

It is estimated that 20,000 cubic yards of sand will be removed in that time period. The sand is being placed on Harding's Beach in the vicinity of the 1st and 2nd parking lots.

The US Army Corps of Engineers hopper dredge "Murden" is scheduled to return to Chatham in late April or May to further clear the channel for the summer season.

The Mainsheet

The name of our e-newsletter was selected from submissions by our community.
In nautical terms a mainsheet is the line connected to the boom which allows a sailor to control the speed of a boat. We think that is fitting for an e-newsletter that can be used to quickly send out important information to our community or at a more leisurely rate for less pressing matters. It reflects Chatham’s maritime history, is reminiscent of the front page of a newspaper, and it is a fun play on Main Street, where you go to be part of all that is happening in Town!
