Feasibility Study and Evaluation: Reuse of 251 Crowell Road

The Town of Chatham requests proposals from qualified professionals to evaluate a privately owned

building located at 251 Crowell Road for the Select Board (SB) to develop sufficient information to

determine the costs/benefits if the Town were to acquire the property. 

The purpose of this study is to generate information on the current condition of the building and site, provide estimates needed to bring it into compliance with Federal and State handicap accessibility standards (Americans with Disabilities Act [ADA] and Massachusetts Architectural Access Board [AAB]), to correct any other identified building deficiencies/repairs and project maintenance and building operation costs for pool and building systems (HVAC, fire suppression, natural gas, electric, etc.).

Additionally, the study needs to compare/contrast existing pool dimensions with typical “short course

pool” dimensions used for general municipal use. Existing site utilities need to be reviewed and evaluated in the context of any needed upgrades to comply with current requirements and/or typical delivery for municipal use. Site planning considerations for this effort will also include reviewing parking lot expansion opportunities onsite and with the adjacent the Town Owned DPW parcel (221 Crowell Road) abutting the southwestern corner of the property.
